Pagerank for 2010

A couple of years ago Pagerank was big business. I remember on Digitalpoint where people would be 100's of dollars per month to have their link on a high page ranked site.

This was due to the belief that the higher the pagerank, the more popular and higher the rank your site would have. So people thought it meant if you have a link to your site on a high PR page, then the pagerank would be passed on to you too.

It did work for a time until Google reduced pagerank on selling sites, even banned them in some cases.

Now, pagerank isn't worth anything. The highest listed sites on Google aren't determined by Pagerank but by other factors - which I mention on Best Blogs in Asia BTW.

Marketing With Your Booklets

Obviously booklets are going to give people more information, but when is this actually going to be necessary in marketing your company? On what occasions do you need to give people so much information that you can’t fit all of it into a brochure or spread it out over various other forms of marketing?

Booklet printing came around for a reason, because it fulfills a need that nothing else in marketing can really match. The first area where you are going to need to give people more than the normal amount of information is when buying an expensive item. For things like cards or other expensive purchases you need to be sure that people know quite a bit about what they are doing.

Things To Know About Your Target Audience

The best marketing is going to be aimed at a set target audience, but what exactly do you need to know about this target audience to achieve success with your marketing? There will be certain differences in what you want to keep track of depending on the type of marketing you plan on doing, say for your poster printing campaigns. Looking at the more technical side of things if you plan to use direct mailing than you will obviously need to know a list of addresses for this target audience. For those using something like color poster printing instead you will need to know some good locations for them as well.

Still, there are certain things that you will want to know no matter what type of marketing you plan on doing, because this will apply to all forms of advertising.

Talk Directly To Your Customers

If you are going to be sitting down to design advertising and get into poster printing the first thing you have to do is ask yourself who your target market is. Almost everything about advertising boils down to the target market and how you can best reach out to them.

No matter what kind of marketing you plan on doing this is always going to be one of the first things you have to ask yourself, and you certainly need a solid answer. Once you know your market you then need to do all the necessary research to find out what they like, what images they will enjoy, and what other things you can use to best reach out to them.

A Novice Guide In Poster Design And Printing

I am blessed that I have many friends who I consider "tech-savvy." When I was tasked suddenly by my company to design and print posters for a project I immediately turned to them for help. I am a creative person, and more or less I know my way around a computer. But poster design, poster printing, file formats, resolutions, "dpi's" and other terms like that make me look like an idiot. So from my experience, I have gathered the little packets of knowledge I gained from my friends and I am sharing them here with you. This is a novice's guide on designing and printing posters, just for you.

DESIGNING

Do Not Forget About Your Brand Name

Ever walked up to a really interesting poster printing on the wall that just grabbed your attention. The images were good, the information was overall solid, but once you were done looking at it you could not figure out for the life of you what company made it. They put so much of their time into making the poster interesting that they quite literally left off the information about the company itself.

This happens far more often than it should, and every time I see it I have to shake my head at how ridiculous it is. Your brand name needs to be close to you at all times and involved in any kind of advertising you get done. You should never be creating advertising without having your brand name involved in some way, yet so many companies do just that.

Know How To Market In Person

There is a vast difference between normal marketing material and marketing personally to people. Some parts of this are rather obvious, but I have talked to many people before who I could tell were probably quite good at writing marketing material, but bad at talking in person about their products and services. Ideally our marketing materials like business card printing or brochure printing materials would speak on our behalf but much to less eloquent folk’s demise that is not the case.

Keep Your Marketing And Product Development In Sync

In any company communication can be a difficult thing to achieve, and different departments regularly seem to avoid talking to each other if at all possible. Often this can work just fine, because most departments do not have anything to do with each other, but for marketing you might be facing some very painful results if you are not careful.

No where is this more prevalent than when you are introducing a new product, and I have seen so many blunders based on bad communication before and it is rather sad each time it happens. The end results can hurt a company a lot and waste them plenty of cash.

Article Marketing - Your Solution To Lifetime Traffic

Some internet marketers call 'Article Marketing' the 'Lifetime Traffic Generator'. Why?

Here are 3 reasons:

1. Articles are written once and they stay on the web forever. Submit it to article directories, ezine directories and they will get archived after a while.

One good thing about archiving is that they can still be dug out from the cyber library using the search engines on their sites.

2. Articles provide valuable information to the readers. As long as the information provided in the articles are evergreen, they will stand against the challenge of the time and still benefit readers who read it years later.

Hiring dedicated SEO consultants

When you have large volumes of SEO tasks, the best option for you will be to hire dedicated SEO experts from India. With full time SEO professionals you are assured of good search engines rankings, skilled resources, cost advantages, excellent communication, flawless project management, quick query handling and a result oriented approach.

Hiring dedicated Search Engine Marketing experts had separated those that succeeded in online marketing and those languishing at the bottom with no traffic to their websites. Full time SEO consultants had always been behind every success business person on the Internet.

Grabbing The Eye Is Not All You Need To Do

What are print posters supposed to do? Color posters are large; they are often colorful with big lettering and large titles and quickly get a person’s attention. They have to be, because unlike most other forms of marketing, if you are going with poster printing you are accepting that people cannot take your advertisement home with them.

This is the main drawback to color posters, and the reason why they have to get a person’s attention quickly or else your advertising will not have much of an impact on people. But the thing of it is getting a person’s attention is far from the only thing you have to do, and you need to consider what message you are sending, and what a person is going to walk away with.

Things To Consider Before Going Green

A trend that has built up a lot of support, and is likely to become even bigger in the future, is focusing on improving the environment and being sure your company is not hurting nature. There are several businesses set up that take a traditional business and change the focus to be purely about improving the environment, or something else to help nature.

All of their advertising has a focus on how they are helping the environment. If they print posters you can be certain they will mention something about nature, just as if they are handing out brochures they will give a lot of attention to their nature friendly practices.

Know Your Card's Limits

Business card printing is a very versatile form of marketing that gives you the potential to accomplish a lot of things at once. Not only do business cards give out contact information, but they can also help to get you remembered, they can add to your personality by being particularly unique, and they can market various sales and other things your company is promoting. Few forms of marketing can do all of that while still being small enough to put in your pocket.

However, can they really do all of these things at the exact same time? This is where things get complicated, and where you might be overreaching when you make your custom business cards, and end up with something that might be more likely to backfire than to get you a sale.

Why The Internet Has Not Replaced Catalogs

You would think that given the many ways that the internet has altered how we shop, catalogs would largely be a thing of the past.

After all, shopping online is quite similar to shopping through a catalog. Both show you an image of the product, both give you a description of the product, and both allow you to purchase things from home. With both you will be sent your product through the mail, and even the way you order is similar with both of them. So why do companies continue to print catalogs when it would appear the internet is superior?

Promote Spontaneity In Posters

I remember a commercial a few years ago from a travel company. The main thrust of the ad was to act on instinct and reward yourself by taking a vacation. The more you think about these things the more concerns you will start to build up, and the more stressed out you will eventually become. Because of this people should at least occasionally just act on impulse, and do something that they know will be good for them.

This can be a very effective marketing message, especially if you are involved in something based on making life more pleasurable or more relaxing. Often I find myself removing different methods of relaxing because when I think too much about it I start to find reason not to do it, whether those reasons are very meaningful or not.

Why Do You Need A Poster Template?

For those who are not as aware of the concept, a template for any advertisement is the basic layout before any of the text or images are put in. This will usually deal with having various markers to indicate where information is going to go, so when you do need to design your advertising all you have to do is fill in the blanks.

Now, for some forms of marketing you definitely want to always use a good template. Postcards and flyers both require you to make quite a few of them rather quickly, so a template will speed up this process by making sure that you can get them out quickly. Brochures can be long and complicated to design, so a template will make it easier to make future brochures.

You Are Never Finished Improving

There should never be a moment when you sit down and say, "There, that is it, my catalog is as good as it will ever be". My answer to this is, "No, it is not, and the second you start to think that is the second your catalog begins to slip and start to decline instead".

What exactly is the definition of the perfect catalog? How does one define the perfect anything? The problem is that such a term is subjective. Everyone is going to have their own opinion on what makes something perfect, and no matter how perfect you might think something is, your customers might say something else.

Interesting Company Tie Ins

Just the other day I was reading about a very unique company tie in that Dr. Pepper was doing in relation to a CD by Guns N’ Roses. For those who do not know anything about it, the band has been trying to make a new CD called Chinese Democracy for quite literally fifteen years or so. Numerous problems caused the CD to be delayed over and over again throughout the period. In fact, several release dates were set and then postponed over the years.

So what was the promotion? In March this year Dr. Pepper said that if the band actually releases their CD by the end of the year they’ll give a free Dr. Pepper to everyone in the United States. Sure enough, the band set their release date for November and finally managed to meet their deadline.

The Set Up: Direct Mailing

The first step towards setting up your direct mailing campaign is going to be figuring out who exactly is on your mailing list. Often mailing lists are bought from other companies, so you get a long list of names right away. In order to get the best list you will have to be sure you know who you are targeting and the best places to acquire the mailing lists.

If you want to have a really large list you might want to go to several different sources to get your list started, but this will be up to you. No matter what I would suggest you get the biggest list that you can consider your costs. That way you can be sure you are getting your message out to as many people as possible.

Things Your Letterheads Can Do Without

Have you ever opened up a letter from a company and saw that the letterhead seemed to take up half of the page? Now, sometimes these letterheads have been quite interesting to look at, so I supposed the company managed to achieve something with that, but it still does not change the fact that the thing is so huge it looks out of place and odd.

For those getting letterhead printing done this is the first mistake I see a lot and something you should be mindful of. The best letterheads are the ones that are not necessarily that noticeable. They give their information without jumping out at a person, and they do not draw attention away from what the letter itself is about.

Envelope Issues That Keep Popping Up

Just how much information needs to be on the front of you envelope?

The rule of thumb for envelope printing is that you need to say enough on the front of your envelope to be sure that you grab a person’s interest, and make them want to open it up to read what you have inside. This means the outside is going to be like a headline in another type of advertising, and this is what attracts attention.

The best headlines give just enough information to let a person know what they are about to read about, but does not try to say everything, leading me to my first point and the first thing people need to avoid doing.

Marketing Suggestion: Avoid Using "Current Resident"

I will admit up front that this is more of a personal preference for me, but I do think I have some good reasons for having it, so please hear me out.

I get my fair share of color postcards and other marketing material in the mail each day. It usually takes me a good ten minutes to sort through my mail pile due to all of the various pieces of marketing that I get. I have to set rules for throwing certain material out right away just to save myself time, and here is one thing on that list: they cannot say current resident on them.

What Makes Something Eye Catching?

Over and over again I have used the phrase eye-catching in order to describe what you need to do with your marketing. For certain types of advertising this idea are even more important, or at least I have mentioned it a lot more. Consider for color poster printing you will have to put quite a bit of thought into how much your poster catches the eye.

With brochures this is not quite as much of a concern. Sure, you will want to take the time to consider how well your brochures attract attention, but this is not as vital as it is when your marketing material is stuck on a wall and cannot come to your customers.

So, what makes something eye-catching? What does this really mean and how can you apply it to your color poster printing?

To Change Or Not To Change

If someone ever tells you a single golden rule when it comes to business cards that you should always follow, do not listen to them.

It might seem as if there are a lot of things that are obviously going to be true. It might seem as if common sense would dictate you do one thing or another with your business card, but this is never going to be absolutely certain, and a few years might turn everything you believed upside down.

Do Not Let Your Catalogs Suffer

The first issue I am going to discuss have to do with product descriptions, and both are the opposite sides of the same issue.

Just how much information do you put in your product descriptions when you get catalog printing done? Are you using a solid paragraph to make your point, or are you branching out into multiple paragraphs to try to say everything? How many of those details are really necessary and how much of it can be cut out without harming the description?

Do Not Let Your Future Marketing Hamper Your Current Needs

How far in advance do you plan out your marketing pushes, and how quickly are you willing to change things if you need to?

A lot of marketing is about grabbing the moment for yourself. You never really know when something is going to be popular, and sometimes you are only given a moment’s notice to figure it out. How quickly are you able to adapt to the situation in order to seize what is standing right in front of you?

How To Make People Appreciate Your Newsletter

Newsletters are meant to be a window into your company. People read newsletters because they want to know how well your company is doing and what is going on. Consider it like going into the same store over and over again where you know the people working there and you like to ask them about their life. You have struck up a kind of friendship with them and you want to know who they are.

This is why people read newsletters, and why companies get newsletter printing done.

The first mistake a company can make with their newsletter is to fail to realize this. The way this affects the outcome of their newsletter is that they pick subjects that are not going to be important to the people who are reading them.

Make Your Title Known

When you introduce yourself to people what exactly do you tell them that you do? Do you have a specific job title that you like, something that says a lot about your position, or do you have a generic job title that does not really tell a person anything?

Job titles can do a lot to improve a business card if you use them correctly. A vague job title is not going to do anything to improve your color business cards, and might end up making a person think you do not do anything important, which is why your title is so vague.

What NOT To Do To Your Booklets

If you plan to use booklet printing anytime soon here is a list of things you need to avoid in order to make the best booklet.

The first thing is to be mindful of the words that you use. Every industry is filled with various phrases and words that no one outside that industry is going to know much about. You run a high risk of confusing people or leaving them clueless as to what you are talking about if you are not using language they can understand.

Calendar Strengths To Take Advantage Of

The most important part of calendar printing has to do with the topic of the calendar. Why do people buy different calendars? It is not as if the calendars function in some unique manner. All calendars accomplish the exact same thing, and because if you get one from a company making them for promotional reasons the calendar is free, that should mean everyone will jump to get one, right?

Alas this is not how people actually work, and the true strength of calendars come from the things they are about. Calendars not only provide people with a source of entertainment throughout the year but also reflect on a person’s tastes and their personality.
